Work package 6:

Spreading the word.

The aim of work package 6 is increasing awareness of the problem of unwanted catches and the solutions that are available. The project plans to raise the awareness of end users and civil society by sharing knowledge, disseminating the project outputs, and by establishing effective communication strategies to bridge the gaps among fisheries actors and change attitudes to the problem of unwanted catches.


Raising fishers awareness, as principal beneficiaries of the projects outputs, and encouraging the replication of good practices.

Exploring incentives to avoid unwanted catches involving fishers.

Improving societal acceptance of conservation measures.

Bridges between actors in fisheries: researchers – technologists – fishers - civil society – consumers – policy makers.
