Work package 5:
Cooperative oversight
The aim of work package 5 is to devise technological solutions to control and monitor compliance in the context of the landings obligation. The cooperation and collaboration of fishers will be actively sought, and the results will help increase the level of control, compliance and the enforcement of rules.
Objectives
Controlling fishers’ behaviour at sea, using AIS / VMS tracks for remote near real-time monitoring.
Use of Information Technologies (AIS / VMS) as policy support in the enforcement of temporal and spatial closures.
Incentivising self-monitoring and full documentation of all catches brought to land, within Producers Associations.
